More Muscle Tissue Burns More Fat

Another reason that both men and women may want to increase their lean mass content while decreasing fat is that muscle tissue actually burns fat away. It is estimated that for each additional pound of muscle tissue we have, we burn an extra 50 calories a day without lifting a finger. This is due to the fact that muscle tissue is more demanding on your body. However, before you go out and start trying to bulk up at any cost, keep in mind that this will only be helpful in decreasing fat content if your gains are pure muscle.
