Hi, I am a 29 year old male. I am moderatly active. What rate should my heart be working during an intense workout. Currently, I am at around 190 beats. What is the ideal fat burning rate?
Hello,
Thanks for the question. There is a lot of debate as to what the exact percentage of your maximum heart rate should be for optimal fat burning. At lower intensities there have been studies showing a higher amount of fat tissue being burned and at higher percentages we have seen more calories being burned. These numbers have varied from 60-85%
With that said, modern science has shown that interval training is the best method for burning fat. High Intensity Interval Training. Take a look at our recent post.

With interval training, your heart rate fluctuates so you aren't at a single constant rate.
If you're looking to drop the fat, go with HIIT.
Thanks for the great question!
