Hello everyone, welcome to Get Fit Journey. I am Marek, owner of this little corner of the fitness world.
I have been training seriously for about three years and in this time I managed to lose a lot of fat and build a bit of a muscle. I have also learned a few thing about training and diet and started to share this knowledge with my friends, who don’t have the patience to read lengthy articles.
That is why I decided to create this site, to help people. People like you who are looking for an easily applicable information regarding diet and training. To do this, I am going to share methods I personally used in my transformation.
Now a bit about me…
I am currently 32 years old father and a husband. I work for an international software company, sitting all day in front of a computer screen. This definitely “helped” me to reach amazing state of un-fitness I was in three years ago.
My fitness journey started around September 2013, when I was 82 kg (180 lbs) at height of 161 cm (5 ft 3.4 in), probably around 40 % body fat. I didn’t realize it then but I was really fat and not very healthy. I started browsing on-line and found overwhelming information about how to get fit.
I started slowly implementing what I learned, keeping things that worked for me and tossing what didn’t. After a while of testing “magic” started to happen. At the beginning I wasn’t able to do even one pull-up. After a month I was 3 kilograms (6.6 lbs) lighter and able to do two full pull-ups. At this time a was doing only bodyweight training and I decided I want more and I bought my first bench, barbell and weights.
Fast forward to August 2015 and I was 61,5 kg (135 lbs) at around 14 % body fat and feeling so much healthier. So in under two years I have lost more than 20 kilograms (44 lbs) of fat and built a bit of muscle. I agree it’s not the fastest transformation in the world but I did it all by myself:) If I knew then what I know now I think I could achieve these results a bit faster.
Currently I’m focusing more on gaining strength rather than building muscle. It just motivates me more to train to add another 2,5 kg (5 lbs) to the bar.
